Herr Pedersen & Berglund (HPB) is seeking an ambitious, hard-working and dedicated Associate Attorney interested in stable and long-term employment. This position is in our Civil Litigation Division, and our office is located in the heart of downtown Visalia. This fast-paced, high-volume role offers immediate responsibility. You will work directly alongside our experienced legal team managing complex civil litigation cases from initial client intake all the way through trial. Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Drive litigation strategy and manage case files from initial intake through discovery, motion practice and trial.
- Legal Craftsmanship: Conduct deep legal research using tools like Westlaw. Draft pleadings, discovery, motions and briefs.
- Advocacy & Appearance: Represent clients confidently in court proceedings, depositions and settlement negotiations.
- Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact, maintaining daily communication with clients and opposing counsel.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with firm partners, associate attorneys, and support staff to ensure comprehensive, seamless client representation.
The ideal candidate:
- Education/Licensure: J.D. from an accredited law school. Active CA Bar membership or recent law school graduates taking the bar in July 2026.
- Litigation Mindset: Strong background or an eager willingness to learn fast-paced civil litigation.
- Skills: Exceptional writing ability, sharp attention to detail, and top-tier organizational habits.
- Attitude: A natural team player who thrives under pressure, communicates clearly, and maintains strict ethical standards.
