Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate for a one-year assignment in Discovery and Law & Motion. At Casey Gerry, a premier plaintiffs' litigation firm with a longstanding reputation for excellence, we handle sophisticated, high-stakes cases across multiple practice areas. This Associate will support litigation matters with a focus on document review, legal research, and law and motion practice. This role offers hands-on experience across all stages of personal injury litigation, including drafting substantive motions and assisting with appellate and writ work when needed.

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing large volumes of case materials, identifying key evidence, and contributing to litigation strategy, while also supporting motion practice at both the trial and appellate levels.

Key Reponsibilities

Document Review & Case Analysis
  • Review and Analyze Extensive Case Materials, Including High-Volume Discovery, Medical Records, Expert Reports, and Government-Related Documentation for Relevance, Responsiveness, and Privilege
  • Identify Key Evidence, Liability Issues, Damages Themes, and Factual Patterns Across Complex, Multi-Defendant Matters to Support Litigation Strategy
  • Organize and Synthesize Large Datasets of Records Into Clear, Usable Work Product, Including Detailed Medical and Factual Chronologies
  • Assist with Management and Coordination of Discovery Efforts, Including Document Production, Tracking, and Overall Case Organization

Legal Research & Writing

  • Conduct Legal Research on Liability, Damages, Evidentiary Issues, and Procedural Rules
  • Draft Memoranda, Case Analyses, and Litigation Summaries for Attorney Review
  • Prepare Written Summaries of Records, Depositions, and Discovery Responses

Law & Motion / Appellate Support

  • Draft Substantive Motions, Including Motions for Summary Judgment/adjudication, Motions in Limine, and Other Dispositive or Procedural Motions
  • Assist with Oppositions and Replies in Law and Motion Matters
  • Support Writ and Appellate Work, Including Drafting and Editing Briefs as Needed
  • Analyze Court Rulings and Assist Attorneys in Adjusting Litigation Strategy

Litigation Support

  • Collaborate with Attorneys on Case Strategy, Discovery Planning, and Motion Development
  • Assist with Deposition Preparation by Identifying Key Documents, Exhibits, and Themes
  • Support Trial Preparation, Including Organizing Exhibits and Case Materials
  • Participate in All Phases of Litigation from Filing Through Resolution

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work Closely with Attorneys and Staff to Meet Deadlines and Case Milestones
  • Communicate Findings Clearly and Effectively to The Litigation Team
  • Maintain Accuracy, Organization, and Confidentiality in All Work Product

Qualifications:
  • Ca State Bar License
  • 1-3 Years of Litigation Experience
  • Experience in Litigation, Document Review, And/or Law and Motion Practice (all Experience Levels Considered)
  • Strong Legal Research, Writing, and Analytical Skills
  • Experience Drafting Motions And/or Appellate Briefs Preferred
  • Ability to Manage High-Volume Case Materials with Strong Attention to Detail
  • Self-Motivated with The Ability to Work Independently in A Fast-Paced Environment
