Duties:
Overview of the United States Attorney's Office-Northern District of Indiana- The United States Attorney's Office is the chief law enforcement office in the district and is responsible for representing the federal government in virtually all litigation involving the United States in the Northern District of Indiana. This includes criminal prosecutions for violations of federal law, civil lawsuits by and against the government, and actions to collect judgments and restitution on behalf of victims and taxpayers. The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Northern District of Indiana is one of 94 USAOs in the nation.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Indiana is currently soliciting applications for positions as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) in the Criminal Division. Criminal AUSAs work closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to investigate federal crimes. AUSAs then prosecute such crimes through every stage of litigation, from charging, discovery, and motions practice to trial, sentencing, and post-conviction challenges. They also develop broader initiatives to disrupt and deter criminal activity throughout the district.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
The duty location will be determined based on the selected applicants, with duty locations in Fort Wayne, Hammond, and South Bend.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $65,563.00 to $171,475.00. Depending on duty location, locality pay for Hammond is 30.86% and 17.06% for South Bend and Fort Wayne. Total salary is basic pay + locality pay.
