Position Summary:
The Town of Breckenridge is seeking an experienced and dedicated attorney to serve as Assistant Town Attorney. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the role from the ground up and make a meaningful, long-term impact within the Town organization.

The Assistant Town Attorney supports the Town Attorney by providing comprehensive legal services to the Town Council, Mayor, Town Manager, Town departments, and various boards and commissions on a wide range of matters related to their official powers and duties. The position carries primary responsibility for prosecuting violations of the Town's municipal code and ordinances in Municipal Court, along with performing a broad spectrum of municipal legal work as assigned. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound legal judgment, exceptional professionalism, strong ethical decision-making, and the ability to deliver clear, practical legal guidance in a fast-paced local government environment.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney required.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Two (2) or more years of criminal law experience in municipal, county, or district court is preferred.
  • Experience in other areas of law including local government, employment, land use, contracts, environmental, water, real estate, or finance is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Licenses or Certificates Required:

  • Active Colorado license to practice law required.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.

Additional Information:
Hiring Pay Range: $138,000 - $185,000 per year.

Full Pay Range: $138,000 - $205,000 per year.
