Overview:
The Lee County State's Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for an Assistant State's Attorney in Dixon, Illinois, with at 0-3 years of previous criminal legal experience.

The Lee County State's Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of persons violating State criminal/traffic statutes and County ordinances. The State's Attorney's Office provides legal advice and representation to the Lee County Board, elected County officials and County department heads. The office is also responsible for civil litigation that arises out of the county or its agents. Furthermore, this Office is responsible for mental health petitions, various civil proceedings directly impacting County services, specialty courts, asset forfeitures, and petitions filed in Juvenile Court on behalf of abused or neglected minors.

Primary responsibilities of an applicant shall include, but are not limited to, prosecuting a diverse caseload of criminal traffic, misdemeanor, and felony cases from charging decisions through final disposition while working closely with law enforcement. Civil law experience is desired, but not required. Applicants may be assigned to other duties as needed. Additionally, applicants will be expected to perform legal research and prepare briefs, orders, motions and other legal documents. Applicant must be victim-focused in an evidence-based environment.

This full-time position requires a dedicated, self-starter with exceptional organization, communication, research, and writing skills. The applicant must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and must demonstrate sound judgment. Applicants must have strong courtroom skills for adversarial hearings, bench trials, and/or jury trials. Candidate should have a good sense of humor and ability to work collaboratively. Applicant must be a currently licensed attorney in good standing in Illinois. Salary range is $65,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include up to 14 paid holidays per year, additional paid time off (including sick days), ARDC registration fees, an impressive training expenses budget, student loan forgiveness eligible position, health insurance, vision, dental, and IMRF benefits are included in the compensation package. Minimal travel required. This position does include an on-call schedule.
