STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE - ASSISTANT STATE ATTORNEY
There is an opening at the State Attorney's Office for an attorney with at least three years' experience to work as an Assistant State Attorney in the capacity of the Civil Litigator for the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force (Strike Force).
The Strike Force is a multi-agency unit tasked primarily with investigating money launderers, fraudsters, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and terrorist financiers. Among the tools the Strike Force utilizes to combat these organized criminals is asset forfeiture pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act (FCFA).
While this is primarily a civil litigation position wherein the selected candidate will be litigating in the Civil Division of the Circuit Court all forfeiture actions on behalf of the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force that arise from their law enforcement operations, the individual selected for this position will also be expected to provide legal advice and guidance to Strike Force detectives in proactive money laundering and other financial crime investigations, and to review and approve warrants in furtherance of ongoing investigations. Accordingly, the candidate should demonstrate an aptitude for Fourth and Fifth Amendment analyses. Preference will be given to individuals with superior writing and organizational skills, significant litigation experience, and an interest in criminal and civil investigations. The salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $85,000 per annum commensurate with experience, with full state benefits and a $5,000 cost area differential.
