The Office of the State Attorney Third Judicial Circuit is located in North Central Florida and is comprised of seven counties: Columbia, Suwannee, Madison, Dixie, Taylor, Hamilton, and Lafayette. Two of these counties border the Gulf of Mexico and offer incredible saltwater fishing opportunities and a coastline full of quaint fishing communities. In our other counties, dive into crystal clear springs, explore lush trails, and savor the picturesque landscapes that make North Central Florida a nature-lover's paradise. Job Description:
Applicants must have a strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Attorney responsibilities include but are not limited to: prosecutorial criminal casework requiring preparation of legal documents, legal research, taking of depositions, and interviewing of witnesses, victims and other parties to ascertain the facts of cases for prosecution. Trial work includes case preparation for court presentation, examining and cross-examining witnesses/defendants/victims, and summarizing cases for presentation for jury and non-jury trials. Duties of the position require professional interaction with the public, law enforcement, and office staff. Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member.

Requirements:
  • 3LS will be considered (preference may be given to those with Certified Legal Intern Status, however such status is not required), or
  • Those that are eligible to be certified under Rule 11 of the Rules governing the Florida Bar; or
  • Those that have taken the Florida bar exam and are awaiting results; or
  • Members of the Florida Bar.
