Class DescriptionA Government Entity is seeking a highly qualified attorney to join its Defensive Litigation/Land Use Practice Group. Qualified candidates should have experience handling legal matters that pertain to four principal areas of law: condemnation (eminent domain), zoning and planning, environmental law, and construction/demolition/rehabilitation of property as well as experience in transactional matters. Excellent research and writing skills and ability to handle community meetings and hearings before zoning are required.
Essential Functions:
- A working knowledge of the local, state, and federal laws and statues,
- The ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex matters.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with others (inside and outside the Law Department).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
- The ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- A strong sense of ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to work with the public and various agencies.
- A willingness to perform with minimal administrative support.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: A law degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Bar of the State of Maryland is required.
AND
Experience: Have at least 3 years of experience in zoning, land use and transactional (purchases and sales, leasing, etc.) are required.
