Description:

The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Logan, Ohio, is seeking a motivated, ethical, and dedicated Assistant Prosecutor to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the State in criminal proceedings, from case intake through trial and sentencing in the Hocking County Municipal Court. This full-time position offers the opportunity to serve the public, gain extensive courtroom experience, and make a meaningful impact on community safety and justice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and evaluate police reports, witness statements, and evidence for potential charges.
  • File formal charges and conduct preliminary hearings, motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Negotiate plea agreements in accordance with office policy and the interests of justice.
  • Work closely with law enforcement, victims, and witnesses throughout the prosecution process.
  • Prepare and present cases in both bench and jury trials.
  • Provide legal guidance and training to law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, case files, and comply with ethical obligations of disclosure.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Ohio and in good standing.
  • 0–5 years of legal experience (prosecutorial experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Commitment to justice, fairness, and ethical conduct.
