Job Overview: The Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney is seeking to fill two positions as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA). The APAs' job duties will involve handling Litigation matters, conducting legal research, and drafting legal opinions or otherwise providing legal advice to County entities.The Litigation APA will participate in all levels of pre-litigation and actual litigation in court and before administrative agencies, and they will represent all Hamilton County elected officials, Hamilton County offices, and Hamilton County officers and Hamilton County employees who are sued in their official capacities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- LITIGATION APA – 10+ years of experience
- Analyze legal issues; Conduct legal research on various legal issues.
- Prepare motions and legal briefs and conduct depositions.
- Review and prepare discovery requests and draft discovery requests to the opposing parties
- Handle Trial Court litigation including appeal procedures.
- Prepare and finalize opinions of the Prosecuting Attorney for the signature of the Prosecuting Attorney.
- Work professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and the public.
- Perform all other duties assigned, delegated or required by supervisor or the Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Juris Doctorate
- Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Detail oriented
- Flexible and quick-thinking
- Quick learning ability when new tasks are required
- Prioritize all job duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilities
- Good time management
- Possess excellent research and writing skills with requisite understanding of relevant legal issues
- Knowledge of computers and computer operating systems with ability to learn Matrix case management system; knowledge of LexisNexis Legal Research product
- Must possess qualities of fairness, a strong work ethic, have the highest integrity
- Maintain confidentiality
- Able to conduct business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines and the Ohio Revised Code
- Able to perform all other duties assigned, delegate or required of an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney as well as those prescribed by law.
