Paul, Weiss is looking to hire an Assistant Managing Attorney to support the Firm's litigation practice. The Assistant Managing Attorney is part of the Managing Attorney's Office and reports to the Managing Attorney based in New York.The Assistant Managing Attorney will report directly to the Managing Attorney and will assist with the following:.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and analysis on procedural issues in federal and state court cases; conduct legal research as necessary.
- Assist with Associate and Paralegal training regarding court systems, court rules and preparation, service and filing of court papers.
- Stay abreast of amendments to federal and state court rules and prepare materials to be distributed to litigators regarding important changes.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with court personnel in local courthouses.
- Review court filings for compliance with rules, local practices, and judges' individual preferences
- Supervise and train docketing and e-filing staff in the Managing Attorney's Office.
- Oversee docketing functions including daily review of docketing/calendaring and distribution of the litigation calendar; handle docketing when necessary.
- Manage e-filing workload; handle e-filings when necessary.
Qualifications:
- J.D required; must be admitted to practice in New York.
- Detailed knowledge of State and Federal court rules and procedures with an emphasis on New York practice.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Managing Attorney's/Docket/Calendar Office or as practicing litigation attorney.
- Able to prioritize, handle multiple projects, and to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Possess excellent communication and supervisory skills.
- Robust working knowledge of PACER, NYSCEF, CourtAlert, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and BloombergLaw
- Strong interpersonal skills, work productively as a team player with attorneys and staff at all levels.
- Possess a high degree of integrity and sense of confidentiality.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are required.
Schedule:
This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance with the schedule set forth by the department.
Salary:
$225,000 - $245,000. Paul, Weiss offers competitive compensation and benefits packages. The firm considers a number of factors when determining compensation, including, but not limited to, education, years of experience, levels of experience, competency levels and other relevant skills and qualifications.
