Job Description:Summary: The Assistant General Counsel advises the Company concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges by performing the following duties.

- Review, advise and ensure compliance with state education, elementary and secondary education and charter school laws and regulations as well as company and school policies applicable to the public schools managed by the Company including the curriculum and operations of the schools;
- Anticipate and identify legal, scholastic, and business issues and counsel relevant administration of schools in order to develop legal and business strategies and solutions, in situations of political, public relations, or financial risk or significance;
- Interact with counsel for districts and charter board of schools;
- Draft and negotiate comprehensive school (K-12) management contracts, institutional sales contracts, and strategic alliances to provide educational products and/or services;
- Draft, review, assess, negotiate and develop, and verify accuracy of a variety of complex contracts, including but not limited to purchases, customer contracts, SOW, MSA, and other agreements; draft and negotiate vendor contracts with an emphasis on licensing contracts;
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations applicable to the Company;
- Engage and manage outside legal counsel where specific legal expertise is needed to advise on legal and policy issues;
- Act as agent of the Company in various transactions; may provide dispute management and support;
- Advise internal teams on various Company products.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree AND
- Seven (7) years of experience in education, corporate and contract law, with some exposure to administrative or securities law
Other Required Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal, leadership, negotiating, and consulting abilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
