Job Description:We are looking for an experienced attorney with a minimum of 5 years of expertise to join our in-house legal team as an Assistant General Counsel, Litigation, Labor and Employment, specializing in litigation and labor & employment matters. This role involves managing complex legal issues, advising internal stakeholders, and overseeing external counsel in litigation and employment-related matters. The ideal candidate will have strong advising and counseling skills and the ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and counseling on labor and employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, termination, pay and benefits, insurance, global mobility, wage and hour compliance, discrimination, harassment, and accommodations.
- Manage and oversee litigation matters, including employment disputes, commercial litigation, and regulatory investigations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements (e.g., separation agreements, non-competes, confidentiality agreements).
- Partner with HR and business leaders to develop and implement policies and training programs that ensure compliance with labor laws and mitigate risk.
- Directing and conducting internal investigations and supporting compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with outside counsel and manage litigation budgets and strategy.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization.
- Provide clear and practical legal counsel to internal stakeholders and navigate complex and sensitive situations effectively.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, including law firm and/or in-house counsel roles.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA).
- Experience in-house providing advice and counseling to business partners.
- Extensive litigation experience.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards and sound judgment.
- Exceptional advising and counseling skills with the ability to navigate difficult situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a corporate legal department of a publicly traded company.
- Familiarity with cross-border employment issues.
