Position Summary:
An Insurance Broker in Keller, Texas is seeking a legal counselor with at least 7 years of insurance-related, in-house corporate experience. This individual will work closely with others on our legal, compliance and business leadership teams on a broad range of transactions and legal initiatives, including general contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide general contractual, regulatory, and compliance support for homeowners, renters, flood, and other business lines of insurance for both admitted and non-admitted products.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements (e.g., confidentiality agreements, program administrator agreements, producer agreements, client and vendor agreements, etc.).
  • Use independent judgment and discretion in drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating a variety of contracts and other legal documents related to our core business.
  • Provide legal support in connection with the development and distribution of admitted and non-admitted products.
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice to support business strategic initiatives.
  • Advise leadership and management as to laws and regulations applicable to the various business operations. Stay current on changes to applicable laws and regulations to help ensure that business operations comply with such changes.
  • Advise business teams regarding compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in the response to inquiries from state insurance regulators and consumer complaints.
  • Assist generally with legal operations, regulatory, compliance and corporate governance matters.

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate degree and licensed to practice law.
  • 7+ years of experience at a leading national law firm and/or public company in-house department with insurance-related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop shared objectives while influencing and persuading a broad range of individuals.
  • Must be able to make sound judgment calls to give leadership and the partnership team leverage to ensure the best path to success.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail that reflects well on the firm.
  • Demonstrates the organization's core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm's culture.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight/escalation, and to transition to team dynamics seamlessly.
  • RESPA experience (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act) a plus.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
