The Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) serves Florida's State Attorneys, Public Defenders, Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsels, Capital Collateral Regional Counsels, and the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Program. JAC assists these offices with the State's accounting, budget, financial services, and human resources platforms. JAC also processes bills from private court-appointed attorneys and associated due process services vendors (e.g., court reporters, interpreters, investigators, and expert witnesses) representing indigent individuals throughout Florida. The Work You Will Do:
The General Counsel's Office seeks an Assistant General Counsel to represent JAC in civil trial and appellate court related to payment of state-funded court-appointed attorney fees and costs. Working in teams, you will also advise JAC about employment, procurement, contract, budget, public records and legislative issues. Because the members of the General Counsel's office participate in a wide variety of issues, you will always be developing your legal skills and expertise.

Pay and Benefits:
For a full-time appointment, the salary range is $65,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Actual total compensation will vary based on election of a part-time or job-share position.

The total compensation package for a full-time position could be anywhere from $82,346.00 to $127,402.00 annually and includes your salary, insurance, retirement, paid leave and holidays. Work-Life Balance:
JAC does not have a billable hour requirement and encourages employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Each month attorneys accrue 20 hours of annual leave and 8 hours, 40 minutes of sick leave. JAC prioritizes cross-training to allow employees to utilize the leave they've earned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and will be required to submit to a Level 2 state and national Background Checks. Strong preference will be given to candidates who possess excellent communication, writing, and research skills. Knowledge of the judicial system or legislative process is also preferred.
