Micron's Legal Department requires an exceptionally talented Assistant General Counsel, Global Operations to aid in establishing and managing its largest semiconductor fabrication facility ever constructed in the U.S. The Clay, New York site will broaden domestic memory supply, generate nearly 50,000 jobs in New York, and be the largest private investment in the state's history.

This candidate will collaborate closely with and deliver legal support to Micron's Global Operations Team, including senior leadership from Micron's Construction, Front-End Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, Government Affairs, and Global Communications Teams. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a significant investment in US-based semiconductor manufacturing. This position is based in Syracuse, New York. Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to Micron's Global Operations Team, providing strategic and practical legal advice and solutions to Micron's Real Estate, Construction, Engineering, Front-End Operations, Finance, Tax, Sustainability, Environmental Health & Safety, Government Affairs, and Global Communications Teams to support the construction, development, and operation of Micron's historic semiconductor fabrication facility.
  • Partner with Micron's Government Affairs Team (and other key stakeholders from Micron's Global Operations Team) to ensure the project construction, development, and operations are aligned with the goals of the CHIPS and Science Act and other federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Collaborate directly with senior leadership in Micron's Legal Department to resolve legal and compliance matters related to the facility's construction, development, and operation.
  • Provide strategic and practical legal advice to The Micron Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Private Non-operating Foundation, which partners with universities and colleges to develop diverse and robust engineering pathways through outreach to and philanthropy for students.
  • Support other ad hoc, strategic projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school, along with active membership in at least one state bar.
  • 5-10 years' experience in commercial law at a top law firm or U.S. public company. Experience with government incentives, municipal financing, environmental permitting, compliance, construction, manufacturing, or operations is valuable.
  • Highly disciplined with the ability to assess risk, work with limited supervision, and provide timely, strategic, and practical legal advice in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to produce high-quality work product.
  • Dedication to represent Micron ethically and with integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, demonstrate diplomacy, and interact well with senior leadership.
  • Manage and advance multiple projects in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry and/or a good understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and operations.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$160,000.00 - $281,000.00 a year
