Duties and Responsibilities:
The General Counsel's Office handles all job related legal matters of union members and is Counsel to the District Council, its elected officials, its affiliated locals and the Municipal Labor Committee.

The nature of cases include arbitrations, disciplinary actions, improper and unfair labor practices, representation proceedings, Taylor Law & NLRB hearings, unemployment insurance appeals and other types of administrative proceedings; plus CPLR Article 75 and 78 proceedings and general litigation in the state and federal courts.

Heavy client contact.

Qualifications:
Must be a member of the New York State Bar.

Should be self-starter and mature, have good judgment, be able to get along with colleagues and be able to take direction, handle own case load, work under pressure, and have litigation skills with emphasis on labor and public employment law.
