The Opportunity:

As Assistant General Counsel, you will serve as a primary legal advisor across the business, own significant matters end to end and help shape how our department supports a global direct-selling enterprise. Position Summary:
Assistant General Counsel – The Assistant General Counsel position is a critical position within the organization that provides sophisticated general corporate and commercial legal support to cross-functional partners across a global, multi-market business. The Assistant General Counsel manages complex legal matters spanning corporate, commercial contracts, employment, dietary supplement and cosmetic regulations, international, and privacy. The position requires an experienced attorney who can exercise independent judgement, advise senior leadership on legal risk and strategy, and operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, delivering clear, practical, business-oriented counsel across a broad range of matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, third-party agreements, and vendor and supplier relationships
  • Advise on direct selling and network-marketing matters, including independent distributor agreements, policies and procedures, the compensation plan, income and product claims, and compliance with FTC guidance, consumer protection, and applicable MLM regulatory frameworks
  • Manage and oversee international legal and corporate matters across our markets, including employment, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, corporate governance, and dietary supplement and cosmetic regulatory compliance
  • Advise on and manage privacy, cybersecurity, and AI legal matters across multiple jurisdictions
  • Advise on and manage employment and labor matters across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage disputes, pre-litigation matters, and litigation, and direct outside counsel efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Develop, review, and update internal policies and procedures
  • Support government affairs and respond to regulatory inquiries
  • Support corporate governance and assist the Corporate Secretary function as needed
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members, and help build the department's processes as we grow

Education and/or Experience:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar in good standing, with the ability to practice as in-house counsel in Utah
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Mix of prior law firm and in-house experience is preferred

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Substantive experience in corporate, commercial contracts, employment, international, regulatory, and litigation
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple complex matters across practice areas and deliver clear, actionable advice to senior leaders
  • Ability to professionally respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers and business community
  • Superior legal writing, analysis, and presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information with attention to detail
