Position Summary:The A Global Packaging Manufacturer Packaging Solutions Assistant General Counsel provides legal advice on a wide range of issues including, but not limited to: general business and corporate law; commercial contract negotiations and drafting; commercial transactions; intellectual property; and real estate.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy Development and Strategy Implementation
- Provides legal advice and counsel in broad range of federal and state matters including, but not limited to: intellectual property, real estate, and commercial transactions.
- Provides proactive strategic legal advice and implementation support for a wide range of commercial transactions including: license agreements, product development, equipment leasing, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, supply agreements, strategic partnerships, master purchase agreements, and commercial contracts.
- Assists with Company's intellectual property initiatives including: ongoing registration program (patents, trademarks, copyrights and domain names), training on intellectual property matters, coordinating with product development and marketing teams to register new copyrights, trademarks and/or patents.
- Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as requested.

- Time Management – Requires ability to quickly analyse, assimilate and reason to recommendation over host of often complex legal matters.
- Effective Communications – Demands ability to succinctly – and typically persuasively – verbalize and in writing acquire desired outcomes from supervisors, managers and executives.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years combined law firm and in-house experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of in-house experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with a variety of contacts and in a variety of situations, including executive management team, outside attorneys and business group leaders.
- Strong experience with handling commercial transactions (preferably in a manufacturing context), product marketing and product liability issues, and real estate transactions.
- Able to lead and follow with equal ease, based on circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to learn business requirements quickly, analyse legal and business risks, and propose creative, business-oriented solutions.
- Substantive data protection and data privacy experience and in-depth knowledge of U.S. and EU privacy statutes, including GDPR and CCPA.
Education and Certifications
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in at least one state.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Not only requires core legal competencies of an experienced lawyer, but also ability to manage and lead projects.
- Requires ability to adapt to business' culture and values coupled with skill and savvy to successfully add value and deliver results in a sometimes ambiguous corporate framework.
