We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join us at Helen of Troy. We are seeking a business-oriented attorney with significant experience drafting, negotiating, interpreting, and managing a broad range of commercial agreements. The attorney must be able to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide timely, practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Draft, review, edit and negotiate legal documents of all types, including commercial contracts, licensing arrangements, distribution agreements, supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other business contracts and initiatives.
- Demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in contract review.
- Evaluate various contracts, business arrangements, and initiatives and provide opinions to business units and company leadership to minimize.
- Partner closely with business units and company leadership to evaluate business contracts and initiatives and facilitate business objectives, while appropriately managing legal and enterprise risk.
- Be proactive in identifying and mitigating risks as they arise.
- Assist and provide legal advice to business units and company leadership.
- Interpret and evaluate laws, regulations, court decisions, and other legal authorities, as needed, to provide legal advice.
- Demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in building relationships with business units and shared services.
- Remain up to date on relevant current and evolving legal trends impacting our business and company.
- Manage outside counsel within budgets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris doctorate from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
- 3+ years with in-house or law firm experience.
- Active law license in the state of Texas.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Corporate or transactional experience
- Spanish language (read/speak/write)
