Job Purpose:The Sheriff's Department needs a motivated Assistant General Counsel to support the Department's mission of public safety. This position plays a critical role in Magistrate's Court by prosecuting cases, participating in preliminary hearings, and providing legal guidance to law enforcement personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages Contested Cases in Magistrate's Court Through Appropriate Resolution (trial, Plea, Diversion or Dismissal)
- Performs Necessary Related Duties
- Ensures Compliance with Victims' Rights
- Assists General Counsel as Needed
- Job Specifications and Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Juris Doctorate
- Two (2) Years of Criminal Litigation Experience Preferred or Equivalent Combination of Education, Training, and Experience
- South Carolina Bar Membership
- Must Have Completed Rule 403 Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
