Under the direction of the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel:
The Assistant General Counsel of the Government Law Advisory Section (AGC-Government Law) will supervise attorneys advising on the California Political Reform Act, California Government Code section 1090, and other conflicts-of-interest laws, the California Public Records Act, state contract administration, and employment law. As part of these duties, the AGC-Government Law will litigate or supervise the litigation of superior court lawsuits and appeals or State Personnel Board cases relating to any of the above-mentioned areas. The AGC-Government Law will also supervise a team of Legal Analysts and a Legal Support Supervisor, who manages a team of Legal Secretaries. The AGC-Government Law may also serve as the Commission's Ethics Officer if requested by the General Counsel.
The AGC-Government Law will ensure that the Government Law Advisory Section meets the standards established by the General Counsel on supporting client operational needs, work product quality, productivity and timeliness, collegiality, and fulfillment of the duties and principles of public administration, personnel management, and supervision. The AGC-Government Law will embody and exemplify the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. The AGC-Government Law also will engage in Legal Division-wide and Commission-wide management initiatives, including but not limited to strategic planning, process improvement, recruitment and hiring, and training. The AGC-Government Law will cultivate the professional growth of their team and perform other duties as necessary or directed by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel.

Working Conditions:
This is a statewide recruitment. This position can be filled in the following locations: San Francisco, Sacramento, or Los Angeles.
This is a hybrid position that will require the selected candidate to report to their assigned headquarter office a minimum of two (2) days a week. Hybrid positions may be eligible for telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. In accordance with CPUC Telework Policy, telework arrangements are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
