The Virginia State Bar, the regulatory agency for the legal profession in Virginia, has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney to work as an Assistant Ethics Counsel. The VSB Ethics department attorneys advise bar members, judges, and out-of-state attorneys on a variety of professional regulation issues, including legal ethics, lawyer advertising, and unauthorized practice of law. They also interpret statutes and rules relating to legal ethics, draft legal ethics opinions and rule amendments, develop and present legal education programs, and provide counsel and support to assigned committees, task forces and work groups. This position requires occasional overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications
The selected candidate will have a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar with no disciplinary sanctions. She/he will demonstrate exceptional writing and legal research skills; an understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct; the ability to analyze complex issues and make sound recommendations; strong organization skills, with attention to detail; and the ability to work collaboratively, manage short and long-term deadlines, and respond to inquiries timely and effectively. Special Requirements
This position is required to work in the Richmond office and is subject to the VSB mandatory vaccination program.
