Definition of Class
Under general supervision represents the Commonwealth in all matters relating to criminal charges, prosecutions, and appeals of criminal court cases.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Represent the Commonwealth in all criminal proceedings in Erie County including, but not limited to: jury and bench trials, preliminary hearings, pretrial omnibus hearings, pleas and sentencings, and appellate court oral arguments; visit crime scenes, and advise law enforcement personnel of appropriate charges and procedure in criminal investigations; attend autopsies and consult with the coroner and forensic pathologist relative to same; write briefs, motions, and petitions; interview persons involved in a case; perform legal research; provide advice to District Justices, police officers, and the public concerning criminal matters. The attorney shall, when called upon to do so, represent the District Attorney's Office at community events relative to the current issues of collaboration between the office and the various agencies/citizens of Erie County.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
A good working knowledge of Pennsylvania criminal law and court procedure. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Should possess integrity, use of good judgment and logic.

Minimum Requirements:
Must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar
