Please note: Submit resumes directly to the Palm Beach County (PBC) County Attorney's Office.The Palm Beach County Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced and highly motivated attorney to serve as counsel in the areas of land use, zoning, and growth management. This position offers the opportunity to advise on complex, high-profile development matters affecting one of Florida's largest and most dynamic counties.
The selected attorney will play a central role in guiding land development policy, supporting major public and private development initiatives, and advising the Board of County Commissioners and senior County leadership on significant regulatory and growth management decisions. The position requires both technical legal proficiency and the ability to provide strategic counsel in matters that shape the County's long-term planning and infrastructure development.
Qualifications:
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
- Membership in The Florida Bar is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in land use, zoning, and local government law is preferred; exceptional candidates with less experience but demonstrated expertise may be considered.
- An excellent academic record and superior written and oral advocacy skills are essential.
- Substantial experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:
- Land use and zoning law
- Growth management and comprehensive planning
- Development agreements and complex entitlement processes
- Administrative hearings
- Local government regulatory practice
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Advising the Board of County Commissioners, planning bodies, and County departments on planning, zoning, comprehensive plan amendments, development approvals, and regulatory compliance.
- Drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, development agreements, and related land use instruments.
- Providing legal guidance on complex entitlement processes, quasi-judicial hearings, and administrative procedures.
- Representing the County in administrative proceedings and land development and regulatory matters.
- Assisting in the development and interpretation of policies governing growth management and infrastructure planning.
The position requires the ability to provide clear, practical, and strategic legal advice in a fast-paced public setting where legal decisions have significant operational, financial, and community impact.
