The Palm Beach County Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced, highly motivated attorney to join its legal team as an Assistant County Attorney.

The Palm Beach County Attorney's Office provides legal counsel to one of Florida's largest and most dynamic local governments, representing the Board of County Commissioners, County Administration, and numerous County departments, boards, and advisory committees. The Office is committed to providing exceptional legal representation and practical legal advice through professionalism, integrity, collaboration, and outstanding public service.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and possess a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in local government law. This position requires an attorney who can independently provide legal advice to County Administration, department directors, and the Board of County Commissioners on complex legal and policy matters. Exceptional candidates with fewer years of directly applicable experience may be considered.

The ideal candidate will possess broad experience across multiple areas of local government practice and demonstrate the ability to provide practical, well-reasoned legal advice on complex governmental matters. Assignments may encompass a wide range of practice areas and will vary based upon the needs of the Office and the priorities of the Board of County Commissioners.

Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to:
  • Independently analyze complex legal issues affecting County government.
  • Provide sound legal advice and strategic counsel to County staff, department directors, County Administration, and elected officials.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and revise contracts, ordinances, resolutions, legal opinions, development agreements, policies, procedures, and other legal documents.
  • Attend and serve as legal advisor at meetings of the Board of County Commissioners and various boards, committees, and advisory boards.
  • Assist in negotiating and implementing complex governmental initiatives and transactions; and
  • Work collaboratively with County Administration and County departments to lawfully implement the policy directives of the Board of County Commissioners.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; exercise sound judgment; communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders; and thrive in a collaborative, client-service-oriented environment dedicated to excellence in public service.

Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
