The Boulder County Attorney's Office is hiring an Assistant County Attorney II or III.

The Assistant County Attorney will primarily work in the following legal practice areas:
General Litigation. The duties of this position involve representing the County in a wide range of civil cases, including employment actions, civil rights cases related to law enforcement and the operation of the jail, land use cases, and other claims and matters involving the Board of County Commissioners, county departments, and other elected county officials. Responsibilities include drafting and filing motions and other legal documents; conducting discovery; negotiating with other parties; and preparing for and litigating a full range of hearings, trials, and appeals in state and federal court.

The position may also include the following additional duties as time allows and based on the needs of the office:
Administrative Hearings and Appeals. As time allows, the duties of this position may also include other kinds of administrative or court proceedings to which the County is a party, such as employee termination appeals, property valuation assessment appeals, appeals related to affordable housing decisions, and zoning enforcement actions.

Contracts. As time allows, the duties of this position may also include advising on all aspects of contract matters with a focus on providing strategic legal advice and training to support the County's portfolio of over 3000 active contracts. This includes supporting the County's offices, departments, and elected officials by providing scope of work training and training to support procurement contracts, updating and revising the procurement contract templates, assisting county grant programs by drafting funding agreements to integrate the components of their programs, advising and drafting intergovernmental agreements and other unique contractual relationships.

The duties of this position may change over time to reflect the needs of the office as a whole and the interests of the attorney hired.

The County Attorney's Office has experienced litigation attorneys who will be part of the onboarding and ongoing support system for the attorney hired into this position.

Salary:
Hiring Salary Range for Assistant County Attorney II: $114,672 - $130,000

Classification Salary Range for Assistant County Attorney II: $114,672 - $165,096

Hiring Salary Range for Assistant County Attorney III: $126,372 - $140,000

Classification Salary Range for Assistant County Attorney III: $126,372 - $182,076

Position Details:
This Is a Full-Time and Benefited Position. the Work Schedule Is Monday - Friday and Work Hours Are Determined by Need but Generally Fall Between 7:30am - 5:30pm. the Office Location Is in The Historic Courthouse on The Pearl Street Mall, 1325 Pearl Street, Boulder, Co 80302. the Position Is a Hybrid Position with The Option of Working from Home up To Three Days per Week, as Work Duties Allow. This Position Requires In-Court Presence at Hearings and At Trial and Attending In-Person Meetings and Hearings at Other Boulder County Locations as Necessary. Under Flsa Guidelines, This Position Is Exempt (not Eligible for Overtime).

Required Education & Experience:
Jd Degree and Licensed to Practice Law in Colorado.

A Minimum of Two Years of Experience as A Practicing Attorney for The Assistant County Attorney Ii Position. a Minimum of Five Years of Experience as A Practicing Attorney for The Assistant County Attorney Iii Position. Prior Law Clerk Experience or Additional Related Education May Count Toward Minimum Experience Requirements.
