Are you interested in advising local government on a broad range of transactional, governance, procurement, contracting, and regulatory matters that support the effective delivery of public services and strengthen the communities we serve?We are actively seeking an Assistant County Attorney to join our team and gain valuable hands-on experience representing a dynamic municipal government while helping advance the interests of our residents, businesses, and community partners.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop terms and conditions of contracts for all assigned projects
- Negotiate, draft, and/or review transactions, contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, legislation, opinions and various other legal documents
- Research legal issues related to constitutional law, municipal law, county law, or contractual matters
- Draft and review scopes of service, requests for proposals, requests for qualifications and other procurement related documents
- Provide advice and counsel during transactional/contract development drafting and negotiations regarding potential or actual disputes, legal issues, liability and analyze liability or litigation exposure
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of client representation
- Provide well-reasoned, thorough legal opinions and guidance on all legal matters affecting the County
- Assist County clients to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and local codes, laws, rules, guidelines, and regulations
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidates must have graduated from a school of law with an LLB or JD degree and be admitted to the New York State Bar. Transactional experience is preferred.
Must be able to work collaboratively with County Attorney staff, other attorneys, and other County agencies in a fast paced and demanding environment.
