The Nebraska Department of Justice / Nebraska Attorney General's Office is currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General ("AAG") in the Office's Civil Litigation Bureau, with an emphasis in employment law and general civil litigation. The AAG will appear on behalf of and in defense of the State in all state and federal district courts with potential for appellate practice. While employment law experience is preferred, the position allows for experience in a variety of practice areas including employment, contracts, section 1983 defense, APA claims and constitutional questions. Excellent legal writing skills required. Prior experience in motions practice, depositions, and appearance before state or federal tribunals highly preferred.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an ABA accredited law school and a license to practice law in Nebraska, or clear ability to be licensed in Nebraska by motion; Minimum of at least three years of litigation experience in a private law firm or government agency, which may include service as a judicial clerk. Excellent legal writing skills and demonstrated work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of general civil litigation, employment law or appellate advocacy experience. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the relevant position. Judicial clerkship experience.

Other: Some travel required. A criminal history and abuse background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
