General Description:
At the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, we strive to provide quality legal services to state agencies to effect better outcomes for Wyoming citizens. Attorneys in our office develop their legal skills in a collaborative environment while doing interesting and meaningful work and maintaining a work-life balance.

The Wyoming Attorney General's Office has an immediate opening for a motivated and creative attorney to handle contract legal work. This is an opportunity to be on the front lines, advising the state agencies, boards, and commissions through intellectually challenging and engaging work that directly serves the State of Wyoming, free from the pressures of the billable hour. The role offers a unique opportunity to:
  • Become a specialist: Develop expertise in government contracting by evaluating complex agreements, negotiating key terms (including indemnification and liability provisions), and ensuring every contract robustly protects the legal interests of the State and contracting agency.
  • Grow your skills: Handle a diverse caseload, from reviewing, editing, negotiating, and drafting contracts for assigned state agencies, boards, and commissions. You will sharpen your ability to identify potential risk exposure and propose practical solutions to mitigate those risks before contracts are finalized.
  • Expand your advisory skills: Work closely with agency clients and other AG staff on the contract review process, honing your ability to provide clear, strategic legal counsel on complex issues, helping clients understand risk implications, and making informed decisions.
  • Collaborate and learn: Thrive in a supportive team environment where you will collaborate with leadership while independently managing your own contract load, building confidence and expertise in contract law, while fostering valuable working relationships with client agencies.

The Attorney General's office provides attorneys an opportunity to receive mentorship, develop expertise, and excel at and utilize skills in a dynamic and collegial work environment while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Our office also offers monthly in-house training opportunities that qualify for continuing legal education credit.
