Assistant Attorney General, Civil Rights: A Government Entity is seeking a full-time attorney to handle civil rights matters, such as employment and housing discrimination claims, for the Office. The position will include legal representation of the WV Human Rights Commission in discrimination cases; however, other types of litigation in administrative forums, trial courts, and appellate courts is likely. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of litigation experience with experience handling matters before the WV Human Rights Commission preferred but not required. The Office is also committed to the training and mentoring of attorneys who lack extensive litigation experience but who have the requisite work ethic, professionalism, integrity, and desire to learn. The position is based at the State Capitol complex in Charleston, West Virginia. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as written and oral advocacy skills, are required. Candidates must have an active West Virginia law license.
