Job Overview:
The University of Cincinnati Donald P. Klekamp College of Law invites applications for a full-time, open-rank, non-tenure-track position as Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Clinical Law and Director of the Domestic Violence and Civil Protection Order Clinic. The Director, who must be licensed to practice in Ohio (see below), will supervise students in the representation of survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse to secure civil protection orders. The Director will also be responsible for creating and maintaining collaborative relationships with relevant on- and off-campus community organizations, including the Nathaniel R. Jones Center for Race, Gender, and Social Justice (Jones Center) at the College of Law and the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati. In addition to its primary function to help train students in the civil litigation setting, the Clinic may also work to achieve public policy goals consistent with the rights of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse survivors.
Essential Functions:
- Appear in court on behalf of clinic clients.
- Supervise students who participate in the clinic.
- Evaluate and develop curriculum for and teach the classroom component of the clinic.
- Attend meetings, participate in faculty governance, and prepare materials for teaching.
- Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of their responsibilities.
- Maintain a strong relationship with key stakeholders on and off campus
- Review and, where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must have a JD and be licensed to practice law in Ohio. If the candidate is not licensed to practice law in Ohio but is licensed to practice in another jurisdiction, they must be immediately eligible for temporary certification to practice in Ohio under Rule IX of the Ohio Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar of Ohio, and will be subsequently required to seek permanent admission to the practice of law under Rule I of the Ohio Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar of Ohio.
