About the Team:
Our Global Legal Compliance team provides key support for all of TikTok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global markets. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The TikTok team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright, and capable legal/compliance professionals to join us.

We are looking for an attorney to join our Global Legal Compliance team as Anti-Money Laundering Counsel. The candidate we are seeking is a seasoned compliance attorney with good experience and passion in a global environment, particularly in anti-money laundering and sanctions, who has strong experience in managing investigations and in implementing and enhancing compliance controls. The ideal candidate should be willing to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams in different timezones and embrace challenges to navigate in various jurisdictions and new issues. The successful candidate will have experience in managing complex projects and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across a variety of teams and business units.

Some key day-to-day responsibilities include:
  • Work with cross-functional and product teams on anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance solutions such as Transaction Monitoring (TM) systems and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs, including evaluating the effectiveness of compliance controls and directing the implementation of any enhancements.
  • Assess and test the effectiveness of TM and KYC systems controls.
  • Conduct compliance investigations in support of anti-money laundering and other compliance issues.
  • Coordinate regional compliance investigations to ensure consistent investigative approach, remediation, and enhancement recommendations.
  • Coordinate with regional compliance teams to adopt regional programs or guidelines.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessment to identify gaps and to improve on the compliance programs, processes, and procedures, and develop and provide recommended enhancements on the basis of such assessments.
  • Design and deliver global compliance training and communication campaigns, including developing materials and assisting regional compliance teams in customizing training sessions for the regions.
  • Establish strong working relationships and build trust and credibility with stakeholders, influencing and supporting a culture of compliance.
  • Additional project and ad hoc work as necessary to support Global Legal Compliance team.

  • JD or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of a state association (with ability to register as in-house counsel if working from a different jurisdiction).
  • 7+ years of relevant working experience on issues such as anti-money laundering, sanctions, compliance, ethics, and risk management, preferably in fintech or the financial services industry. White collar crime investigation experience is a plus.
  • Experience in managing complex investigations in a global environment.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills
  • Possess the highest standard of ethics and a positive attitude in learning and willing to pick up new knowledge and skills.
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • A confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, yet with creative mind, and demonstrate the ability to effectively and proactively exercise good judgment and partner with the business in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to be available for meetings that are scheduled before or after home time zone normal business hours.
  • Willing to travel.

For Pay Transparency - Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $145666 - $280250 annually.?

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.?
