Bodman is now recruiting for our 2027 Summer Associate Program. We have positions available in metro Detroit and Grand Rapids.The Summer Associate Program is ten weeks long. Summer associates spend the majority of their time in the Firm's Detroit office; however, each summer associate will spend one to two weeks in our Troy and Ann Arbor offices. For those students interested in working in Grand Rapids after graduation, we also offer the opportunity to work out of the Firm's Grand Rapids office for the summer.
We have had unparalleled success in the percentage of summer associates who receive and accept offers of full-time, post-graduation employment. Many of our attorneys – from junior associates to senior partners – joined Bodman as summer associates.
Hiring criteria:
- Excellent character
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Students currently in their first year of law school (2028 graduates)
Interview process: Selected candidates will be invited to interview in person at Bodman's Detroit office on Saturday, February 21. Candidates are encouraged to reserve this date to ensure availability. Virtual interview options may be available for those attending law school out of state who cannot practicably travel to Detroit.
Compensation: 2027 summer associates will be paid at a semi-monthly rate of $6,875, less applicable withholdings.
Key Responsibilities:
As a summer associate, you will work on actual client matters across a variety of practice groups that associates would otherwise handle. We also prioritize your professional development by hosting educational, training, and social opportunities throughout the summer. Each summer associate receives formal feedback through a mid-summer and end-of-summer review and is assigned an associate and partner mentor with whom they meet regularly.
