Job Description:Cooley LLP is recruiting JD 2028 students to join its Denver, Miami, New York, Palo Alto, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle offices as summer associates in its General Corporate group for the 2027 Summer Program. This role offers the opportunity to work within a preeminent, internationally recognized corporate practice. Through Cooley's broad transactional platform, we advise clients ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 public companies at every stage of their life cycles. Groups that fall under the corporate umbrella include emerging companies, private equity, capital markets, corporate governance and securities regulation, and mergers and acquisitions. Associates who join the general corporate practice as first-year associates receive a wide range of experience before having the opportunity to identify a specific area of focus.
We believe your summer at Cooley should provide a realistic and meaningful view of what it is like to practice law here. Work assignments relate to active client matters, offering practical exposure to the firm's clients and practice areas and reflecting the type of work given to Cooley lawyers. Summer associates also have the opportunity to participate in pro bono matters throughout the program.
Cooley summer associates benefit from extensive training and professional development. All summer associates participate in four days of training and orientation during the annual kickoff weekend at the Seascape Beach Resort in Aptos, California. Throughout the summer, both the business and litigation departments offer a condensed version of our renowned Cooley College curriculum. On the business side, summer associates learn the fundamentals of mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, and venture capital financings, among other topics. On the litigation side, they attend classes covering discovery, brief writing, witness interviewing, and additional core skills.

This is a summer associate position, and the expected salary is based on an annualized rate of $225,000, with semi-monthly base pay of $9,375.00, subject to payroll withholdings and deductions.
