Our Summer Associate Program provides a comprehensive overview of life as an associate at Day Pitney. The program is designed to offer meaningful exposure to the firm's work, people, and culture while helping you develop the skills needed for a successful legal career.
Our smaller summer associate class size allows us to get to know you—your skills, interests, and professional goals—and to provide individualized opportunities, meaningful work experiences, and tailored support.
As a participant in our Summer Associate Program, you will have opportunities to:
- Work on challenging, interesting, and diverse projects that reflect the breadth of our client work;
- Engage with industry leaders and gain hands-on experience across our practice areas;
- Learn about our culture, attorneys, industries, and clients;
- Receive formal and informal mentoring and training, including substantive skills development and shadowing opportunities;
- Participate in social events that foster meaningful connections with attorneys across all Day Pitney offices; and
- Receive constructive feedback through both formal evaluations and ongoing informal guidance.
Office Locations
The following office locations will host the 2L Summer Associate Program: Connecticut (Hartford, Stamford), Florida (Miami, Boca, West Palm Beach), Massachusetts (Boston), and New Jersey (Parsippany).
Position Overview and Qualifications:
We welcome candidates with diverse perspectives, interests, and work experiences that will strengthen our practices and our firm. You must be a second-year law student (Class of 2028) to be considered for our 2027 Summer Associate Program.
Preferably, you will have:
- Exceptional academic achievement demonstrating drive, intellectual curiosity, and leadership ability;
- Demonstrated interest, through coursework and/or professional experience, in our practice areas and/or industry sectors;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a variety of settings;
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
- A proactive mindset, with a strong desire to learn and take ownership of your professional development;
- A demonstrated commitment to public service and community engagement; and
- A genuine interest in our geographic markets and in joining Day Pitney as an associate following graduation.
