Description:
The New York office of Sidley Austin LLP is accepting applications from current 1L law students for 2L positions in the 2027 2L Summer Associate Program. Successful candidates will have exceptional credentials and a genuine passion for the law. While primarily hiring 2Ls for the 2027 2L Summer Associate Program, we have limited openings for 1L positions in the 2026 1L Summer Associate Program. When submitting your application, you will have the opportunity to indicate whether you would like to be considered for a 1L position in the 2026 Summer Associate Program as well.
Please include a resume, undergraduate transcript, and cover letter in your application materials. We will also require a law school transcript containing your 2025 fall grades. Upon receipt of your 2025 fall grades, please email your transcript to Olivia Stillwagon at olivia.stillwagon@sidley.com to update your application. We anticipate offers will be determined upon receipt and review of first semester grades.
The New York office plans to conduct the vast majority of interviews for the 2026/2027 summer program throughout November, December, and January. Interviews will be scheduled to accommodate final exam and holiday schedules.
The New York office asks summer associate candidates to select a Practice Area Pathway they would like to pursue. Offers will be extended to work for a specific Pathway. Each Pathway corresponds to the practice groups listed below. This will not prevent summer associates from trying out an assignment or two in a different Pathway, but the expectation is that they will ultimately pursue a practice group in the selected Pathway. We anticipate few summer associates will be able to switch Pathways over the summer (although moving within a Pathway may still be possible subject to the needs of the firm). Summer associate work assignments will continue to be an open market system so summer associates can explore work in practice groups and practice area teams within their selected pathway.
