Steptoe LLP seeks a 2L Summer Associate with an interest in joining the Firm's Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) practice group in our Washington, DC office for the 2027 Summer Associate Program. The GAPP group operates at the intersection of law, politics, and public policy, helping clients navigate the challenges posed by the interplay of legislation, regulation, competition, and economic trends.About the Program
Steptoe's 10-week Summer Associate Program is one of the most important elements of the firm's recruitment effort. The summer program offers a well-rounded overview of the firm's practices and exposing summer associates to substantive legal work; aimed to provide a realistic view being an associate at Steptoe from day one. During the summer, the Summer Associate will participate in trainings, work day to day with highly recognized attorneys and build relationships that will be essential to their career.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Relevant prior work experience: Capitol Hill, government, or policy work a plus
- Proven track record of academic and professional excellence
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional writing skills
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal initiative

Compensation for this position is based upon an annualized salary of $225,000.
