About the Summer Law Clerk Program
Cedar Tree Native Law is now accepting applications for our Summer 2026 Law Clerk Program in our Omaha, Nebraska and Rapid City, South Dakota offices.

Our Summer Law Clerks work closely with our attorneys on real client matters affecting tribal governments, enterprises, and programs. Clerks gain practical experience in legal research, writing, and analysis while contributing to work that has a direct impact on Native communities.

Responsibilities:
Summer Law Clerks may:
  • Conduct legal research on issues involving tribal governance, federal Indian law, and related areas
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing contracts, policies, ordinances, and other legal documents
  • Support attorneys in client projects and ongoing advisory work
  • Assist with preparation for meetings, hearings, or proceedings as needed
  • Assignments are substantive and designed to develop practical skills in research, analysis, and professional communication under the direct supervision of Cedar Tree attorneys.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of 2L year by Summer 2026
  • Strong legal research skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in tribal law and/or federal Indian law
  • Familiarity with tribal communities and cultures
  • Coursework in Native American law completed prior to the start of the program
