Description:

For nearly 100 years, Dykema has served clients around the world from our strategically situated offices in Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Washington, D.C., California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Through our practice management structure and our focused Industry Groups, we know and understand the sectors in which our clients compete, from Automotive to Energy, from Data Privacy to Financial Institutions.

Dykema's summer associate program offers its participants the opportunity to engage in a wide range of assignments and client matters. Our summer associates get exposure to corporate closings, client conferences, depositions, court hearings, arbitrations, trials, real estate syndications, estate planning and pro bono work, all of which offer real-life law practice experience. At Dykema, our summer associates are fully integrated into the Firm through meaningful practice area work and professional development activities. Beyond day-to-day practice experience, our social events provide participants the chance to connect with attorneys and staff on a personal level in a more casual environment. These experiences – both substantive and social – provide a meaningful and realistic glance into life at Dykema.

Applicants must be enrolled in and in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school at the time of application. We consider a range of criteria in our selection process, including high academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities such as Law Review, Moot Court, and other legal journals. In addition to academic excellence, we seek candidates who show a commitment to creating an environment where inclusion and a sense of belonging are prioritized both within the firm and in the broader legal community. We also value indicators of future success such as leadership ability, interpersonal skills, strong judgment, maturity, relevant prior work experience, and the capacity to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

Please submit the following required materials with your application: resume, cover letter, undergraduate and law school transcripts (unofficial versions are acceptable), and legal writing sample. If your law school transcript is not yet available at the time of your application, please submit a placeholder document and supply your transcript to dykemarecruiting@dykema.com upon receiving your first semester grades.
