Williams Mullen is pleased to solicit applications for our 1L Fellowship Program in our Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC offices. The firm will award two 1L law students each with a paid 9-week position in Williams Mullen's 2026 Summer Associate program beginning May 18. Students accepted as a 1L Fellow will receive priority consideration for an offer of 2L summer employment!

Eligibility & Selection Criteria
 This is a merit-based fellowship. We seek qualities that align with being a successful 1L and 2L student as well as future associate. Applications will be reviewed for future indicators of success and commitment to the legal profession. For consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • First-year law student, in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school in the U.S.
  • Ability to bring a unique perspective to the firm as demonstrated through your achievements or experiences in your school or community
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, work experience, and/or community involvement
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.*
  • Excellent undergraduate and law school academic performance
  • Able to join the 2026 Williams Mullen Summer Program in our Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC offices.
  • Strong interest in working at the firm for a second summer and joining the firm as an associate after law school graduation

Application Process:
Applications will be accepted from Saturday, November 1, 2025 until 5 pm Sunday, January 11, 2026. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. For consideration, candidates must apply online with the following:
  • Directed personal statement (double-spaced and maximum of 2 pages) describing your academic, professional and/or life experiences that
  • exemplifies your desire and commitment to work at Williams Mullen as well as in the city where the Williams Mullen office is located, or
  • describes how your background and values align with and would enhance the culture and core values of Williams Mullen
  • Resume (with undergrad GPA listed); and
  • First semester law school transcript (as available).**

Please note that Williams Mullen is not currently considering applicants who require immigration sponsorship, including F-1 students on Optional Practical Training, individuals on an H-1B visa, etc.  Williams Mullen will only consider applicants who (i) currently have work authorization, and (ii) do not require immigration sponsorship either now or in the future.
