In 2023, Joe Doerr, Sara MacWilliams, and Derek Howard launched Doerr MacWilliams Howard PLLC (DMH Law), which is a specialized business law firm. Before DMH Law, Doerr was the sole proprietor of Doerr Law Firm, which he launched after leaving large law firm. He is a former chair of the Oakland County Bar Association’s Business Court & Counsel Committee and is frequently recognized as one of the top business and real estate litigators in Michigan. MacWilliams was the founder of MacWilliams Law PC and brings an existing business associate and paralegal team to the firm. She specializes in outside general counsel, business transaction and complex commercial litigation. She has received numerous awards for her work and is routinely listed as one of the top female attorneys in Michigan. Howard, a longtime Judicial Staff Attorney in Oakland County’s Business Court, launched his own business law firm in 2019 and has quickly enjoyed a string of business litigation success, including multiple cases featured in Michigan Lawyers Weekly. The newly combined firm will offer clients a deeper bench of expertise and legal support, while maintaining the individualized, attentive service the partners are known for.
