Job Description:The Position:
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Trademark Junior Associate or Staff Attorney to join our dynamic Brand Protection team in our Chicago or Milwaukee office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1 to 2 years of experience to contribute meaningfully to a growing practice and work on a diverse range of trademark matters.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct trademark clearance searches and analyze search results to provide advice regarding trademark availability.
- Handle domestic and international prosecution of trademark applications.
- Manage a large docket of trademark prosecution matters, ensuring timely responses to office actions and adherence to deadlines.
- Assist with trademark enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters, opposition/cancellation proceedings, social media takedowns, and domain name complaints.
- Support other attorneys on trademark and copyright litigation matters.
- Stay up-to-date on current trademark law and practice.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the firm's Brand Protection team.

Knowledge Base & Education:
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
- Excellent academic credentials
- At least 1 year of international trademark prosecution and enforcement experience at a law firm
- Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm
Communication:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion
