We currently have two openings for supervising attorneys: 1) to supervise our general hotline and other programs, and 2) to supervise our Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN).Supervising Attorney, general hotline and other programs: The supervising attorney will be responsible for supervising staff attorneys and paralegals on the general hotline, as assigned. The supervising attorney will spend approximately half the work schedule providing brief services on the CARPLS Hotline, as well as on CARPLS' other projects, as assigned. The supervising attorney will assist in the training and professional development of staff and will collaborate with other supervising attorneys in supporting CARPLS' programs. The supervising attorney will also assist in the creation and maintenance of knowledge management content and client-facing materials in the attorney's area of expertise.
Supervising Attorney, Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN): We are currently seeking a full-time supervising attorney for the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN) Hotline Project. The IL-AFLAN Supervisor will train and directly supervise the staff attorneys and paralegals assigned to IL-AFLAN, as well as provide brief legal services to clients on the IL-AFLAN hotline. The IL-AFLAN Supervisor will be responsible for creating and updating knowledge management content on legal issues that affect veterans and active military clients and for promoting the Project with the veteran and active military communities. The IL-AFLAN Supervisor will interface with partner agencies throughout Illinois daily to ensure the smooth delivery of services and will participate in supporting our other programs in collaboration with other supervising attorneys.
The annual salary is $91,585 per year. Excellent benefits include 401K (with an employer match), health, vision, dental and life insurance, and pretax transit benefit. Both positions operate on a hybrid remote/office schedule with at least one required weekly day in the office.
Requirements:
The candidate must possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in Illinois. The candidate must have at least five years of legal experience, preferably in a legal aid setting.
Additionally, candidates for the IL-ALFAN position must have prior substantial legal experience working on veterans' legal issues and substantial experience working with veteran and/or active military clients. Past military service preferred.
