We are looking for an associate to join our Strategic Transactions and Licensing group (“Tech Group”) in Silicon Valley or San Francisco. The Tech Group collaborates with leading venture-backed startups and venture capital firms in technology, life sciences, AI, financial services, and consumer products. Associates will develop expertise throughout the entire lifecycle of a company, handle multiple matters concurrently, and have client contact from Day 1 As a Tech Group associate, you will:- Draft and negotiate licensing, partnering, and commercial agreements
- Provide general intellectual property, privacy, and business/product counseling directly to clients
- Work on and manage transactions in all stages of our clients' businesses, from formation to financings to both buy and sell-side acquisitions and beyond.
We will consider strong candidates with significant experience in either (1) strategic and/or commercial contracts drafting and negotiation and/or (2) deal management of venture financing and/or M&A transactions, who are looking to expand their practice to include more holistic company counseling.
We operate our Silicon Valley and San Francisco locations as a single “Northern California” office, and candidates may elect to spend the majority of their time in either office (though associates in the Tech Group are initially expected to spend some amount of time in both offices).
Job Requirements:
- Eagerness to work with startup and venture capital clients
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: commercial contracts drafting and negotiation and/or venture financing or M&A transactions
- JD 2021-2023
- A technical degree is not required but enthusiasm for, and a willingness to learn about, emerging technology is a must
- Admission to the State Bar of California
- Superior academic credentials from a top law school and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Previous large law firm experience required
Salary Range:
$235,000 - $310,000
