About the Team:
We are looking for an experienced senior patent attorney to work closely with internal stakeholders to conduct solid analysis, provide pragmatic advice, and handle patent mining/prosecution in the US. This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team, work on cutting-edge issues in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, collaborate with colleagues on the business, engineering, compliance, security, and policy teams on patent issues critical to protecting TikTok's efforts on products and innovations, and execute and advance the patent strategy in the US. Candidates must be highly collaborative, self-motivated, strategical thinking, and intellectually curious.

Responsibilities:

• Be a reliable partner for U.S. tech and business departments to mine patents, and provide patent legal training and legal advice.
• Develop patent portfolio development strategy and patent filing plans and make sure that they are aligned with the business goal and well carried out.
• Review, draft, and prosecute U.S. patents.
• Handle strategic patent landscaping, and analysis projects, to help mitigate risks and prepare for defense, navigate innovation and patent strategy.
• Accept legal consultations from cross-functional teams, evaluate patent-related legal matters, provide pragmatic, business-focused, solution-oriented legal advice and guidance, and respond promptly on patent matters.
• Collaborate with and manage outside counsel.
• Support patent license and litigation team in handling patent conflicts/challenges resolution.
• Provide cross-functional support for acquisition due diligence, IP licensing, transaction, enforcement, technical standards, and litigation activities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department, including extensive experience mining, prosecuting, and managing patents.
• Familiar with the internet, software industry, and relevant techs.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science required
• USPTO registration, Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize multiple urgent projects.
• Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, creative, risk-based approach to problem-solving.
• Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with tight turn-around times and deadlines.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, self-starting, hard-working, with a tolerance for working across multiple time zones.
• Fluently speaking and writing in both Mandarin and English.

Job Information:

• For Pay Transparency -Compensation Description (annually)
• The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $202350 - $357390 annually.?

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.?
