Position Overview:As Salcomp continues to expand its U.S. operations, the increasing complexity of federal and state regulations calls for a dedicated in-house legal function. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide timely, strategic legal advice; ensure compliance with evolving laws; manage litigation and disputes; and proactively mitigate risks. This role empowers the business to operate confidently and efficiently while aligning legal strategy with commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Risk Management: Develop and implement a structured compliance and risk-management framework for U.S. operations, identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks.
- Legal Advisory: Advise management on corporate governance, cross-border contracts, trade compliance, employment, IP, and regulatory developments.
- Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, review, and execute contracts for the U.S. entity; create and maintain standardized contract templates.
- Dispute Resolution: Lead litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, and government inquiries; coordinate internal stakeholders and external counsel for optimal outcomes.
- Compliance Leadership: Design and oversee compliance programs, conduct audits and risk assessments, and deliver training to foster a culture of compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to embed legal and compliance controls into business processes.
- External Counsel Management: Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring quality and cost-effective support.
Qualifications:
- Education: Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
- Experience: At least 7 years of relevant legal experience with proven ability to manage day-to-day legal affairs for a U.S.-based manufacturing company. Strong expertise in corporate governance, commercial contracts, compliance, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. Prior law-firm or in-house experience in a similar industry is preferred.
- Licensing & Skills: Active Texas Bar license preferred. Practical experience in litigation and dispute resolution is a strong plus.
