In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain a solid understanding of An American Globally Diversified Conglomerate Company Life Sciences Operating Companies, technology and product goals, and challenges in order to counsel and execute on intellectual property licensing that facilitate those goals and minimize those challenges.
- Develop an understanding of the intellectual property landscape of strategically imperative technologies and counsel business stakeholders and IP colleagues on in-licensing and out-licensing strategies.
- Aligns IP licensing strategies with An American Globally Diversified Conglomerate Company business and strategic plans, including building and managing budget expectations, preparing for and attending strategy meetings as required to confirm alignment with evolving business and strategic plans and provide legal advice and counsel on relevant matters in a clear, concise and understandable manner that facilitates informed decision making by stakeholders.
- Negotiate, draft and review license agreements and other agreements with heavy IP license terms including collaboration agreements related to research and development of new agreements, commercial agreements,
- Build collaborative relationships within the Life Sciences legal team and An American Globally Diversified Conglomerate Company legal community.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- An advanced degree in biological science, microbiology, molecular biology or other field relevant to genomic medicine.
- Juris Doctor with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 10 years of intellectual property legal experience in-house at a company or a combination of law firm and in-house experience, including 7 years of hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization.
- Up to 20% Domestic and international travel will be required
- Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
