Description:

An American Multinational Medical Devices and Health Care Company is currently seeking an experienced transactional attorney to lead acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, equity investments and other sophisticated transactions. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of Abbott's Legal Division, as well as senior business leaders.

Technical skills:
The successful candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in leading significant, complex mergers and acquisition activity. In-house experience and experience with cross-border transactions is preferred. The position's core job responsibilities include:
  • Active ownership of all legal aspects of sophisticated transactions, including leading negotiations, supervising outside counsel on due diligence and agreement drafting and advising internal constituents;
  • Identifying and analyzing legal issues, developing practical solutions and working with internal constituents to implement those solutions; and
  • Advising and collaborating with business leaders, legal colleagues and outside counsel to drive positive business outcomes.
  • Anticipating issues and making good decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Training/Experience Required:
  • Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, demonstrate a strong academic background, be admitted to a US state bar and in good standing, and have, or be able to obtain, licensure to practice law in Illinois.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions. Must include experience with large corporate clients.
  • Experience in a large law firm required. In-house experience at a large corporation is preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform successfully in cross-functional teams within a matrixed environment, with the ability to lead and mentor.
