Who are we hiring?
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support, under the Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Sales & Marketing, in support the following business teams within the Madison Square Garden Company: Marketing Partnerships, Ticketing, Suites and Corporate Hospitality, and Marketing.

What Will You Do?
  • Negotiate and draft a variety of contracts and other documents, including sponsorship agreements, suite licenses, agency/consultant agreements, event agreements, ticketing agreements, production agreements, promotion agreements, and miscellaneous vendor agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic thinking to the Company's various sales, services and marketing groups.
  • Structure, negotiate and draft sponsorship deals; advise on contractual obligations, legal issues and category exclusivities with respect to sponsorship and hospitality sales and service across all of MSG.
  • Advise on advertising and marketing initiatives, including sweepstakes, contests and giveaways, privacy and intellectual property matters, releases and review of promotional and creative materials.
  • Advise clients on issues relating to compliance by company and business partners with laws, contractual arrangements, corporate policies and League rules (e.g., NHL and NBA), troubleshoot to solve problems and analyze financial exposure and legal risks as necessary.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 6-8 years of legal practice experience
  • Legal education and JD required; licensed to practice law in New York state
  • Advanced contract drafting, interpretation, analysis and negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of sponsorship, marketing, consumer, privacy, IP and commercial law, best practices and related areas
  • Outstanding prioritization and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible and creative thinker with a collaborative and business-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Leadership ability, self-starter, team player with exceptional judgment
